Painting

Painting your home, whether it is the exterior, interior, or both, is a big job.  Done correctly, it adds value, protects the structure, and enhances the aesthetics.  Done poorly, it can be costly, both in terms of finances and time lost.

There is a substantial difference in a DIY paint job, and one professionally done by Yepez Painting.  Not only do we have the equipment necessary to complete the project efficiently, with our years of experience we know the importance every step of the process holds in ensuring a clean, crisp finish.

Exterior Painting

Painting the outside of your home refreshes the look.  Well done, it also increases the property value and protects the underlying materials from UV damage and weathering.  However, there are steps necessary for the project to give you the maximum return on your painting investment.

Preparation.  Paint doesn’t stick well to dirt or environmental contaminants.  It is imperative that a clean surface is the first step.  Removing any chipped or peeling paint, then pressure washing the entire area is step one in good preparation.

Repairs.  Under all that dirt and old paint, there may be repairs that are necessary.  This is the time to fill in gaps, repair or replace loose trim, add caulk to all trim areas and do general repairs.

Protection.  You don’t want paint on the doors, windows, trim and other areas of the exterior.  Each of these need to be protected for the initial paint application.  Trims/doors will be painted AFTER the primary exterior is complete.

Paint.  Now, we are  FINALLY ready to start the application of your exterior paint.  Please notice the word “exterior.”  There is a reason exterior paint is more expensive than interior paint.  It is higher quality and better designed to stand up to the elements.  Though it may be tempting to save a few dollars, this is not the place to do so.

Once the exterior primary paint is completed, then is when we will come back to carefully finish doors and trim as needed, and depending on your vision preference.

Interior Painting

Painting the rooms inside your home is a much more personal project.  This is an area where most of us truly let our individuality and personal tastes show.  As a result, ensuring exact color match is more crucial with an interior paint project than any other.

However, the primary steps remain the same.  As with exterior paint we will prepare a clean surface (no pressure washing indoors!) and make general repairs.  For most, this will also involve filling any holes from wall hangings or other small imperfections.

Any windows/trim areas must be taped off and the flooring fully protected from risk of splatter or drip.  This single step may be the most important part of your interior painting project!

Once the primary interior paint has been applied and given opportunity to dry, additional coats may be applied.  Trim, window sashes, or accent walls are completed afterward, with extreme attention paid to the smallest detail.
